Abstract: Working in schools can be a tricky ethical proposition for behavior analysts. In this presentation we will discuss ways to proactively create effective practices that meet ethical guidelines set forth by the BACB. We will cover ways to avoid ethical trap doors from case conception (informed consent) all the way to appropriate client discharge.

In this course:

  • The participant will differentiate between scope of practice and scope of competence.
  • The participant will identify one strategy to self-assess competence.
  • The participant will identify the main functions of all three tiers of support in PBIS.
  • The participant will identify when consent is needed in school based practice.
  • The participant will differentiate between procedural and clinically meaningful FBA processes in schools.
  • The participant will identify the key components of BST and how they can be used in schools.
  • The participant will identify key components of meaningful use of data in the school setting.
